Our Blog

Weather was gorgeous outside the office yesterday. I intentionally took this picture!Lessons learned tend to come in waves for me. I don’t know about you, but when I learn something new or see an idea presented in a neat way, I tend to get bombarded with follow-up messages and ideas with this overarching theme. Maybe it’s the whole idea that if you are looking for something you tend to spot it easier. Not sure. However, this week’s theme has been…wait for it….

Be Intentional.

When I first read the blog post that sparked my thought (which I unfortunately lost the link to, I’m very sorry!), I almost disregarded it. Then a tweet came across. Then another blog post. Then a Pinterest image. Then all of a sudden I was seeing it everywhere: Be intentional. Live intentionally.

I guess I just assumed I’ve always been intentional. And maybe in my subconscious I’ve done a fairly decent job of it, too. Yet what a great reminder it’s been for me this week. Here are some of the thoughts and questions that crossed my mind that will maybe spark your mind to be intentionally too:

  • Am I being intentional about when I get up, and when I go to bed?
  • Am I being intentional about what I eat and drink?
  • Am I being intentional about exercising?
  • Am I being intentional about my work?
  • Am I being intentional about my passions?
  • Am I being intentional about being a wife? Being a daughter, a sister, a friend?
  • Am I being intentional in my faith?
  • Am I being intentional about my life?

A knot in the tree outside our office. Did the tree intend for the knot or not? We may never know. It’s caused to me to question how many times do I do something just to be done with it? How often do I go about an activity without thought?

This isn’t meant to overcomplicate your life, either, or saying you have to always be thinking (I’ve had those moments where I need to rest as well, and breaks are an excellent thing). This isn’t about being stressed and having another thing to do. It’s quite the opposite, actually. Am I intentionally being busy, or am I being busy to be busy? Am I intentionally taking a moment to take a break? All great questions!

Feel free to ask me more “Are you being intentional about…” questions. It’s been an insightful week for me to say the least, and I hope these inspire you as well!
